ISSessions Meeting on 2019/8/16

Summer is coming to a close and school is literally around the corner. Staying hydrated is important as we prepare ourselves for early mornings and late nights yet again. Our next ISS Sessions meeting will be this Friday August 16th, 2019 from 7-8:45 in J102 at the Trafalgar Campus. Our rough agenda is as follows:

Date: 2019-08-16
Time: 19:00 – 20:40
Location: Room J102, Sheridan Trafalgar Campus, Oakville
Agenda
19:00 – Announcements with Louai
19:05 – University of Guelph MCTI Info Session
19:25 – News Roundup with Nick and Adam
19:40 – Github Repo of the Month with Nick
19:45 – Feature Story with Adam and Louai
20:05 – Guest Speaker Alana Staszczyszy
20:40 – Wrap and Refreshments (across the street at the pub)

I’m a bit late on this post but things have been picking up work wise.

Our guest speaker for this Friday is a penetration tester, almost Sheridan graduate, and international speaker. Alana Staszczyszy will be going over why security’s biggest buzzword – the all-touted “distribution of truth” – is something the security industry should pay great attention to. The foundations of cryptography that are perceived to be so indestructible are, in fact, malleable to the current world political and economic stature. It will a great talk full of intriguing perspectives.

Furthermore, University of Guelph will introduce our their new Master of Cybersecurity and Threat Intelligence (MCTI) program after our initial meeting announcements.

There will be lots of new information being talked about this meeting that even I don’t know about. I hope to see you all Friday evening!
